Home Service areas Águilas
Águilas, Calabardina, Calarreona and the surrounding urbanisations. We work here from Totana, and it is one of the stretches of coast with the most pools and the most second homes.
Águilas shares two problems with the rest of the coast — salt, and a house closed for half the season — and adds one of its own: it is the far south-western corner of the Region, right on the Almería border, and a lot of people here complain that tradesmen «will not come down». We do come down, but it helps to give us some notice so the visit can be planned properly.
Swimming pools in Águilas
It is the most frequent job here. The season is long and the sun is strong, which means heavy evaporation, more product used and more load on the filtration equipment.
- Routine maintenance, whether you are here or not, with a report and photographs from every visit.
- Recovering green water at the start of the season, correcting the pH and the filtration first and the colour afterwards.
- Pump and filter replacement, and sand changes with an inspection of the lateral arms.
- Leak repair in the shell, skimmers, main drains and buried pipework.
If your pool loses more level than evaporation explains, it has a leak. We locate it before breaking anything open: that is the difference between a small hole and lifting the whole perimeter. More on swimming pools and on leak detection.

Hard water and storage tanks
The water here is hard, as it is across the whole south-east, and there are also a great many properties — particularly outside the town — with a reserve tank and a pressure set, because the mains supply does not arrive as it should.
Two things we see a lot of in Águilas: tanks that have gone years without being cleaned inside, and undersized pressure sets that start and stop continuously until they burn out. Both are properly solved, and solved once.

Air conditioning and salt
In Calabardina or along the seafront, the outdoor unit lives in a permanently saline atmosphere. The coil corrodes, the unit loses performance and it fails far sooner than expected. You extend its life by choosing equipment with anti-corrosion treatment, siting it out of the sea wind and rinsing the coil once a year.
And a warning: if it was re-gassed and a few months later it is not cooling again, it is not that the gas «gets used up». A refrigerant circuit is sealed: there is a leak and it has to be found. Recharging without repairing it is throwing money away. More on air conditioning.
If you are not here all year
A start-up service before you arrive and a shutdown when you leave. A fixed written price before anything is touched, photographs of what we find and of what we do, a report and an invoice. We get in with whoever you nominate and we do nothing that has not been agreed beforehand.
What we do here
Hours and nearby areas
Monday to Friday 8:00–18:00 and Saturday 9:00–14:00. We attend emergencies. As this is one of the areas furthest from our base, it helps to give us some notice whenever the fault allows it.
Nearby we also work in Mazarrón and in the Almería Levante — Pulpí and San Juan de los Terreros are a step away.
Green pool, a leak, or air conditioning that will not cool in Águilas? Tell us about it and we will tell you what needs looking at and when we can come.
Frequently asked questions
You are in Totana. Do you really come down to Águilas?
Yes, we work here regularly. What we ask for is some leeway to fit the visit in where possible, because it is one of the furthest areas. For a fault that will not wait, say so and we will find the slot.
My pool turns green every spring.
It is usually the winterising: if it does not suit the number of months the pool will be left alone, you find it green in spring. And if the filtration is not moving the water it should, it turns green again however much product goes in. The filter gets looked at before the chemistry.
I have a water storage tank. Does it need cleaning?
Yes, and it is one of the most overlooked things. A tank spends years accumulating sediment in the bottom and that ends up in your taps and your water heater. It is worth cleaning it and checking the lid and the overflow, which is where what should not get in gets in.
The pressure set is very noisy and starts constantly.
It is either undersized or the vessel has lost its air pre-charge. Starting and stopping continuously is what kills these units. The pre-charge is checked, and if the set is simply too small for the property it is replaced with a suitable one.
Can you come and look at a fault and give me a price first?
Yes. We come, look at the installation and give a fixed written price. If you go ahead with the work, the call-out is included. If you only want the assessment, the visit is charged and we tell you the amount by telephone before setting off.
