Home Frequently asked questions
The questions we get most often by phone and WhatsApp, answered without waffle. If yours isn’t here, ask it — we answer in English.
Quotes, prices and hours
What does it cost to have you come and look at a fault?
We give a fixed price after seeing the installation. When the work is then carried out by us, the call-out and the assessment are included in that price. If you decide not to go ahead, only the call-out is charged — and we tell you that figure on the phone before setting off.
Why won’t you give prices over the phone?
Because that number always ends up changing, and always upwards. We would rather see the installation and give a price that holds, even if it means one more visit.
Do you take emergencies?
Yes. Monday to Friday 8:00–18:00 and Saturday 9:00–14:00. We attend emergencies. See emergencies.
Do you give an invoice and a warranty?
Always. A written quote before and an invoice afterwards, and we stand behind the installation we carry out. Where a job needs a licensed installer’s certificate, we issue it ourselves.
Working with us in English
Will I need an interpreter?
No. You will deal directly, in English, with the technician who does the work. There is no call centre and no middleman, and the quote and the invoice can be explained to you line by line.
I am not in Spain. Can you still do the work?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. Tell us who holds a key — a neighbour, an agency, a family member — and we arrange access with them, send photographs of the work and invoice you afterwards. See non-resident property owners.
Water leaks

How do I know whether I have a leak?
Close every tap and appliance and look at the meter. If it is moving, there is a leak. It is the definitive test and it takes five minutes.
Does the floor have to be dug up to find it?
To locate it, no. We use a ground microphone, a correlator, a thermal camera or tracer gas depending on the case, and then open only the exact point. Digging blind is the expensive option. See leak detection.
There is damp on a wall. Should I open it up there?
No. Water travels: the stain appears wherever it finds a way out, which can be metres from the break. And sometimes it is not the plumbing at all, but water getting in through the façade or the roof.
The leak is in a communal area. Who pays?
That is the first thing to establish. We isolate circuit by circuit to determine which installation the water is coming from, and issue a written report — which is what settles it with the community.
Hard water, softeners and drinking water
Is a water softener worth it here?
In Murcia, Alicante and the Almería Levante the water is hard, and in the Guadalentín valley especially so. A softener extends the life of the water heater, the boiler and the household appliances. What matters is sizing it for your real consumption.
I have a softener and it isn’t working.
Before replacing it we check three things: whether it has salt, the condition of the valve, and whether it was correctly sized in the first place. A lot of softeners written off as dead have simply had no salt for months.
Softener or reverse osmosis?
They are different things. A softener treats the whole house so limescale does not build up; reverse osmosis treats only the drinking water, so it tastes right. On this coast it is normal to have both.
Air conditioning
They regassed my unit and it stopped cooling again.
A sealed circuit does not consume refrigerant. If it has run out, there is a leak, and topping it up without finding the leak just postpones the same call — at your expense, and the gas’s. See air conditioning.
My unit drips water indoors.
Nearly always the condensate drain: blocked, laid with the wrong fall, or badly fitted from the start. It is a classic symptom of a rushed installation, and it is corrected by clearing it and, if necessary, redoing the run with the correct fall.
Swimming pools
My pool is green. Is it ruined?
Almost never. Green water is usually recovered by correcting the chemistry and running the filtration properly for a few days. What has to be established is why it went green, or it will happen again next season. See swimming pools.
The pool loses water. Is it a leak?
Not necessarily — in high summer evaporation alone accounts for a few millimetres a day. Above that, it is worth measuring properly, because a leak in the shell, a skimmer or the buried pipework is found and repaired in very different ways.
Still not answered?
Ask us directly. What we do is set out under services, where we do it under service areas, and if you would rather just write, the form is on the contact page.
